Thunder Cupcakes

About a month ago a friend of mine requested a Thunder Cake, which seemed like a good challenge, so I went off to my computer to contemplate how I shall go about making a Thunder Cake. I found out that there is a book called Thunder Cake, but the recipe it gave didn’t seem quite right. So with the help of Google and a few various sites I came up with this masterpiece.

What you’ll need:
Devil’s Food cake recipe or box mix (I was feeling lazy, so I just used the boxed stuff)
Stuff to make the Devil’s Food
Sweetened Condensed Milk
Hot Fudge
Whipped Cream
Chocolate Chips
Various Fruit or other toppings (optional)

First make your Devil’s Food. Today I opted to make cupcakes (note: use the foil liners for cupcakes), but the first time I made this I made two 8 inch round cakes.

When your cupcakes are done, fork them right after you take them out of the oven. This means you stick a fork in the cupcake repeatedly to make a lot of little holes. This is best done slowly so you don’t tear apart the entire cupcake.

Now comes the fun part. Pour condensed milk all over the cake or cupcakes. I poured about one tablespoon on each cupcake. Let the condensed milk soak into the cake. In the meantime heat up your hot fudge. Spread the hot fudge on your cupcakes. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely.

Once the cupcakes are cool plop a generous spoonful of whipped cream on top. I used this recipe. Add some chocolate chips and any other toppings you feel like adding. This time around I just went for the chocolate chips but last time I had some strawberries in the fridge so I sliced a few of them up and added them on top.

And there you have it, awesome Thunder Cupcakes.

*Warning* These cupcakes are extremely addictive and may cause a sugar high. Bake at your own risk.
